Congress Rejects Immunity for Scrushy
From Bloomberg News
Congress rejected a request by HealthSouth Corp.’s fired Chief Executive Richard Scrushy to give him limited immunity in exchange for his testimony about accounting fraud at the company.
Scrushy asked lawmakers for immunity related to an investigation by the House Energy and Commerce Committee about the alleged fraud, which prosecutors have said could reach $2.5 billion.
“The committee has no intention of providing any type of immunity deal with Mr. Scrushy or anyone connected with HealthSouth,” committee spokesman Ken Johnson said.
