Paris Raid Targets Iran Group

PARIS — Masked and heavily armed French police raided the compound of an Iranian opposition group Tuesday, detaining activists on suspicion of plotting terrorist attacks in France.
The raid came a month after U.S. forces disarmed the group’s military wing in Iraq. The Moujahedeen Khalq organization, which the U.S. and the European Union classify as a terrorist group, seeks to topple Iran’s clerical regime.
Authorities detained 159 people in the raids on the compound north of Paris and 12 other sites near the capital. They seized $1.3 million in U.S. currency, plus computers and telecommunications gear.
Tehran has complained that Western nations have let the Moujahedeen operate freely while accusing Iran of ties to terrorist groups.
