Inmate Who Fled Dies After Police Shootout

One day after he used a cardboard gun to escape from a courthouse, an inmate was fatally wounded in a shootout that also wounded a police officer, authorities said.
Harold McCord Jr. died at a Seattle hospital, officials said.
The unidentified officer was hit in the hand and arm. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The shootout took place in Monroe, about 60 miles northeast of Tacoma.
