Hiker Lives to Tell About Fight with Grizzly Bear
From Times Wire Services
A retired Montana railroader was attacked by a grizzly bear while hiking alone north of Yellowstone National Park, but said from his hospital bed that the incident would not keep him from returning to the mountains.
“This was just bad luck,” said Bob Johnson, 55.
Johnson remembers grabbing the bear by the nose with both hands as it tried to bite his face and throat.
“I thought, I’m gonna fight until I die,” he said.
He suffered wounds to his scalp, arms, chest and back.
