R. Chad Dreier, chairman of Calabasas-based home builder Ryland Group Inc., and his wife, Ginni, have pledged $3 million to Loyola Marymount University to endow a faculty position focused on teaching ethics in accounting.

The R. Chad Dreier Chair in Accounting will make Loyola Marymount one of the few universities in the nation with a chair emphasizing accounting ethics education, according to school officials.

The position, which has not been filled, will involve teaching students an understanding of ethical standards and issues as well as approaches to handling and resolving ethical challenges.
