Utah forward Britton Johnsen will miss the NCAA tournament because of mononucleosis.

Johnsen, who averaged 11.6 points and 6.7 rebounds, also missed the Mountain West Conference tournament last week.

Johnsen did not accompany the Utes to Nashville, where they open the tournament Friday against Oregon.

Missouri Coach Quin Snyder wanted his Tigers to know what it was like to play in a dome before the NCAA tournament began. So he scheduled a Jan. 13 game at Syracuse to get his players accustomed to the atmosphere.

“It is different,” said Snyder, whose fifth-seeded team faced 12th-seeded Southern Illinois today in Indianapolis. “But you’d better get used to it because if you keep winning, you’re going to be playing in a dome eventually.”
