Suspect in Runnion Murder Is Slated for a January Trial
Prosecutors said Friday that they are on schedule for a January trial in the case of a Lake Elsinore man accused of kidnapping and killing 5-year-old Samantha Runnion.
Alejandro Avila, 27, is accused of kidnapping the girl outside her Stanton home July 15.
“We’re not happy about a January trial, but we certainly don’t want it to be any later,” Orange County Dist. Atty. Tony Rackauckas said Friday after a pretrial conference in Orange County Superior Court.
Avila’s attorneys requested the delay until January.
