Senators Want a Woman to Help Lead Academy
From Times Wire Reports
Sens. John W. Warner (R-Va.) and Wayne Allard (R-Colo.) are asking for a change in leadership at the Air Force Academy because of a sexual assault scandal. They want a female officer to be assigned to a top post.
In a letter written on behalf of the Senate Armed Services Committee and addressed to Air Force Secretary James Roche, the senators said new leadership would provide a needed change in the culture of the Colorado Springs-based academy.
The Air Force has acknowledged 56 reports of sexual assaults of female cadets in the last decade.
