White Wins at Irwindale

Covina’s Russell White needed everything he had in the last 15 laps to win the 100-lap Jani-King Super Late Model Series feature race at Irwindale Speedway on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 6,500.

Mike Duncan finished in second, 0.267 seconds behind White. Tommy Fry was third.

White took the lead on Lap 35 and steadily increased it over his nearest challenger, Duncan. However, after an accident on Lap 85 reset the field, Duncan launched a furious challenge for the lead and nearly caught White on Lap 91, but was unable to get past him.

In the 75-lap Auto Club Late Model feature, Scott Youngren had to fight off Tim Huddleston to take the victory after taking the lead with 14 laps left.

Lee Ladd of Westlake Village won the 40-lap Vista Paint Super Series feature.
