Smarts’ Lawyer Says Police Leaked Details
A lawyer for the family of Elizabeth Smart said that police and FBI officials leaked information about the case to Salt Lake City reporters who were later fired for working with the National Enquirer.
Attorney Randy Dryer also said officials with the Utah Department of Public Safety and the Secret Service gave details about the case to the reporters for the Salt Lake Tribune.
The reporters, Michael Vigh and Kevin Cantera, avoided litigation with the family by identifying the sources of their information, Dryer said. He refused to identify any of the sources.
