Atlantic, New Yorker lauded

The Atlantic Monthly and the New Yorker were each honored twice Wednesday at the 2003 National Magazine Awards.

The Atlantic Monthly won for general excellence and for public interest, while the New Yorker was lauded for reporting and fiction. The awards were handed out in New York by the American Society of Magazine Editors.

Other general excellence awards went to Parenting, ESPN The Magazine, Texas Monthly, Architectural Record and Foreign Policy. Slate won for general excellence online. Sports Illustrated won for profile writing, Harper’s Magazine for feature writing and Conde Nast Traveler for photography.
