Chris Kim, 28, of Los Angeles pleaded no contest Friday to defrauding more than 170 people in an Internet auction scam.

Instead of serving jail time, Kim agreed to repay his victims. By the time of his sentencing June 6, he must post $100,000 toward restitution.

Officials said Kim sold high-end electronic equipment on EBay through a Web site called “Calvin Auctions” for about two years.

In April 2002, authorities said, he stopped shipping the products that customers had bought. Nearly 200 customers filed complaints for a total loss of more than $350,000.
