Ex-Gov. Edgar Won’t Run for U.S. Senate

Former Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar sent his regrets to President Bush and other Republicans hoping he would run for the state’s U.S. Senate seat coming open with the retirement of another Republican, Peter Fitzgerald.
“After careful consideration, we have decided that I will not be a candidate for the U.S. Senate,” Edgar told reporters.
