Teachers Credit Union Gives Schools $250,000
From Staff and Wire Reports
A teachers credit union donated $250,000 to Orange County public schools Monday and committed an additional $500,000 in matching contributions to help lessen the impact of the state’s budget crisis on education.
The Orange County Teachers Federal Credit Union’s fund-raising drive hopes to raise $1 million by fall, said county Supt. William M. Habermehl, who received the first check during a ceremony in Orange.
The money will be divided among schools according to their student population.
