More than 300,000 Iraqi children face death from acute malnutrition, twice as many as before U.S.-led forces invaded the country, the United Nations Children’s Fund warned.

The agency said a survey in Baghdad indicated that 7.7% of children younger than 5 in urban centers suffered from acute malnutrition. Many children could be helped if aid could move freely, it said.
