Military, Rebels Dispute Death Toll in Offensive

Indonesia’s military said it had killed 38 rebels in Aceh province since a fresh offensive began, but it added that separatists were melting into the civilian population. A spokesman for the Free Aceh Movement, however, has insisted that no separatists have been killed, while saying nearly 50 civilians have died.
The military has denied killing noncombatants since the offensive began Monday.
