FCC could narrow our choices

Share

As a TV viewer, particularly of news, I wholeheartedly agree with Howard Rosenberg (“In Media, Goliath Edging Out David,” May 19). We, the TV-watching public, should be concerned about the forthcoming vote by the FCC that would further deregulate media ownership.

It didn’t concern me too much at first, but seeing how companies like Viacom and News Corp. have each got two TV stations here alone, it just might be taking away the choices that we as viewers have now. For a good example of this, have you been watching KCBS and KCAL’s newscasts? If so, have you noticed how alike they’ve become? If having the same crop of reporters on the same two stations is what we have to look forward to, then I would give this thing a resounding “no” vote.
