Cost, comfort need not correlate
We too have found that small and quaint is better than pretentious and mega-sized (“Sometimes Less Costly Can Mean More Comfy,” On a Budget, April 27). On a recent trip we stayed at a glitzy high-rise resort on Maui. It was beautiful, but nothing like our favorite vacation spot, the Aston Maui Lu in Kihei, where you can have a truly Hawaiian experience.
Many tourists tend to stay at expensive resorts and spend too much money on a room they hardly stay in. We’d rather spend our money on mai tais, excellent seafood and souvenirs.
