Professionally Detached
Re “Attorney Is Shot as TV Cameras Roll,” Nov. 1: The second tragedy, not as traumatic as the victim’s being shot, is the fact that so many cameramen stood around and watched the suspect walk away. It took a reserve deputy for the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department to run after him and tackle him from behind. Sometimes media personnel need to step away from the camera. That would, however, require some level of integrity. Ironically, reported in the same issue, a group of Catholic schoolgirls chased down a sexual predator. I guess they don’t want to be cameramen.
