U.S. Grant to Help Fight Growing Meth Problem
- Share via
A federal grant awarded to local law enforcement agencies will be used to expedite their fight against the escalating methamphetamine problem.
The $220,000 grant was given to the police and sheriff’s departments as part of a national $300-million effort to combat the drug. Sheriff’s Department officials said their $92,000 portion will be used to acquire time-saving equipment, including laptop computers, digital cameras and portable narcotics testing kits.
The computers will allow detectives in the field to tap directly into local, state and federal databases without going through the dispatch center.
