Homeowners Given Leeway on Suspect Plans
From Times Staff Reports
The Newport Beach City Council has approved giving variances to property owners whose homes were designed by a local architect under criminal investigation for falsifying plans.
Andrew Goetz allegedly forged documents for about 35 custom homes. The homes, which are either complete or under construction, exceed the city’s height limits, officials said. The ordinance will have another reading in two weeks and, if approved, will take effect in 30 days.
