Giving Greystone designer his due

I read with great interest David Colker’s article on Greystone (“Noir Splendor,” Oct. 23). My father, Edgar Cheesewright, former owner of Cheesewright Studios, was very much involved in the interior of Greystone, including all the interiors and the main staircase. He had 10 woodcarvers working for him on this job and furnished the entire house.

He had worked with Mrs. Doheny Sr. on her home in town and then was hired by Ned Doheny and his wife to do the total interior. I believe this was in 1928. I am now 90, and so was quite young when this was going on.

I am surprised he was never mentioned in your article because he was so involved with the project. He was a close friend of the architect, Gordon B. Kaufmann.
