Man Gets Life in Prison for Fatal Attack
A man was convicted Wednesday of shooting his wife and killing her co-worker in a Los Angeles garment business and was sentenced to life in prison.
Jesus Rivas, 39, was found guilty of murder, attempted murder and assault with a firearm for killing Pedro Chavez and wounding Rosa Rivas. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Bob S. Bowers sentenced Rivas to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
Rivas committed the murder in a jealous rage, authorities said. He shot Chavez in the head and his wife in the abdomen.
Rivas fled the scene but was arrested at his home the next day.
