A new Hot Pants to squeeze into

Clubland’s favorite tweaked-out punk club, Hot Pants, makes its debut at the Old Towne Pub on Friday in Pasadena. Formerly at Mr. T’s Bowl, Hot Pants offers a freaky menu of alternative music, and Friday’s show includes performances by Anti Quark, Dolly Rots and Sharp Ease.... Those who missed the Dropkick Murphys’ September show at the Greek Theatre can catch the Boston punkers Oct. 23 at the House of Blues in Anaheim. Singer Ken Casey, who’s known to channel Elvis in his live performances, promises he’ll reprise his Greek encore -- a swoon-worthy rendition of “If I Were a Carpenter,” a song Johnny Cash famously covered.... And in more Cash news, don’t miss these tributes to the late singer: On Sunday, Judith Edelman and Jack Tabasco team up for an acoustic tribute at the Hotel Cafe. And on Nov. 20, the Coffee Gallery Backstage in Altadena hosts a double homage to Cash and Warren Zevon.... Hot L.A. promoter Brent Bolthouse and his partner Jenifer Rosero recently signed on as partners with Avalon and are teaming up with owners John Lyons and Steven Adelman to host a blowout opening bash Friday night.... A new restaurant and lounge called Luna Park just opened at the old La Brea Avenue location of Lucky Duck (R.I.P.). But don’t confused it with the former LunaPark on Robertson Boulevard, which recently made its debut as Pearl after brief stints as Moomba and Dorscia.... Chocolate Bar, L.A.’s long-running hip-hop club, celebrated its sixth birthday on Saturday at Elysian Park.

A gem of a hotel

Prive’s bicoastal colorist, Steven Tapp, who paints the highs and lows of the likes of Madonna and Ricky Martin, says he scoped out Sean MacPherson’s latest venture, the Maritime Hotel in New York. MacPherson, who owns such beauties as Bar Marmont, Swingers, Jones, El Carmen and Good Luck, has already won over New Yorkers with his new Chelsea district gem. Start spreading the news.
