New heads for New Theater

Travis Preston has been named artistic director of the Center for New Theater, the professional company associated with CalArts, and the center’s former co-producer, Carol Bixler, now is the producing director.

They replace Susan Solt, whose title was producer/artistic director. She resigned last summer as dean of the CalArts theater school. Preston staged a site-specific “King Lear” for the company last year at the Brewery Arts Complex in downtown Los Angeles.
