Lawyers Seek Transfer of Convicted Judge
Attorneys want Superior Court Judge Diana R. Hall transferred from Family Court, saying her recent domestic abuse trial could taint her judgment.
Lawyers in the last week filed a dozen peremptory challenges to automatically disqualify Hall from hearing their cases. The attorneys said there were concerns that the judge might not rule properly in cases that involved domestic disputes and alcohol, which represent about 80% of their caseload.
Hall was assigned to Family Court after her Sept. 20 sentencing on two misdemeanor counts of drunk driving. She was acquitted of a felony in the case stemming from her arrest after an argument with her former domestic partner.
