27 Gunmen, 2 Soldiers Die in Fierce Fighting

Government forces battled rebels and right-wing paramilitary fighters in several locations in heavy fighting that killed 27 gunmen and two soldiers, the army said. In the largest battle, government troops said they killed 17 fighters of the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia outside the town of Orocue.
Killed elsewhere were the two soldiers, nine members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia and a member of the National Liberation Army.
