Spam Law Doesn’t Target the Abusers

Share

Regarding “Law Won’t Deter Spam, Experts Say,” Sept. 29:

The real victims here are small businesses like mine that rely on industry-specific B-to-B e-mail and dutifully provide an opt-out notice. I get 100 e-mails per day, 75 of which are spam. I get the same percentage of postal junk mail. It takes me one minute to deal with these -- hardly a burden.

Who truly benefits from this law? It will further clog our courts, ruin the value and efficiency of digital communication for small companies like mine and have no tangible effect on the real abusers of e-mail.
