Ask Jeeves Rebounds to $6.32-Million Profit

Ask Jeeves Inc., owner of the Ask.com Internet search site, said it earned a third-quarter profit of $6.32 million, contrasted with a loss a year earlier, as more people used its Web site.

Net income of 14 cents a share contrasted with a net loss of $4.37 million, or 11 cents, a year earlier. Revenue rose to $27.2 million from $15.9 million, the Emeryville, Calif., company said, missing analyst estimates.

A partnership with Google Inc. has helped lift Ask Jeeves’ advertising sales, causing the company’s share price to jump more than tenfold in the last year. Ask Jeeves shares fell $1.59 to $19.27 on Nasdaq.
