From Times Wire Reports

Powerful Hurricane Fabian swept through the Atlantic Ocean toward Bermuda and could pass dangerously close Friday or Saturday, forecasters said.

If it changes course “very, very slightly, it could come completely over the island,” Bermuda Weather Service Director Roger Williams said.

Residents on the south shore were urged to abandon or board up their homes to protect them from waves that could swell to 30 feet. Fabian carried 120-mph winds and was likely to strengthen, forecasters at the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.
