From Staff and Wire Reports

The Petaluma City Council has agreed to foot part of the $4-million bill for a new 261-acre wetlands park.

Monday’s decision was met with cheers of celebration from supporters who have worked for nearly two years to help secure state and county money to help pay for the land.

The property was destined for an expansion of a poultry processing plant until the city negotiated the sale with Petaluma Poultry Processors.
