Worker Injured by Trash Truck at Landfill

A county employee was injured after a trash truck ran over his legs Wednesday morning at the Edom Hill landfill at the edge of Cathedral City.
The unidentified 41-year-old man was directing traffic about 11 a.m. when a trash truck hit him as it was backing up to dump its load.
The Indio resident was airlifted to Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
The landfill was closed for two hours while sheriff’s deputies investigated the incident.
