D.A. to Pursue Death Penalty Despite Mistrial
One day after a mistrial was declared in the murder case of a man accused of killing a police officer, Solano County’s district attorney announced that his office would still pursue the death penalty.
“The execution of this police officer under the circumstances in this particular case warrants the penalty of death,” said Dist. Atty. David Paulson.
Joseph Teitgen is scheduled to face a second death penalty trial, starting Jan. 12, for allegedly shooting veteran Vallejo Officer Jeff Azuar when he accompanied two other officers to Teitgen’s home to arrest him on an outstanding warrant in April 2000.
