Equal opportunity do-it-yourselfing

Chris ERSKINE’S “Backyard Obsessions and the Men Who Have Them” (Sept. 11) ought to read “ ... and the Women Who Have Them.” His funny story reflects my recent annual trip to the rooftop to clean rain gutters, which also involves removing and reattaching gutter screening. As if knees rough from composite shingles and toes bruised from pressing against shoes angled downward for hours weren’t enough, I trim tree branches, then do ground cleanup. Like Erskine, I like “looking down on” the neighborhood once a year!
