From Times Wire Reports

Hundreds of Sikh taxi drivers participated in a caravan to express their frustration and fear after the death of a driver killed last weekend.

They congregated Thursday in three San Carlos parking lots and pledged to end what they perceive to be hate crimes. Afterward, they followed one another in single file to San Jose to attend a memorial for Davinder Singh, 21.

“One Bin Laden does not mean everyone is Bin Laden. We are Sikhs from India, and we’re a very peaceful people,” said Gurdev Singh, the victim’s uncle.

Despite police assertions that the slaying resulted from an attempted robbery, fellow Sikhs believe Singh’s turban and beard played a role in his death.
