A New York man who sent millions of spam e-mails faces up to seven years in prison after he was found guilty of identity theft and forgery, the state attorney general’s office said.

Howard Carmack, known as the “Buffalo Spammer,” was found guilty on 14 counts, a spokesman for New York Atty. Gen. Eliot Spitzer said.

Carmack sent 825 million bulk e-mail messages using stolen identities and forged addresses, the state alleged.
