Wildfire Burns 1 Home, Forces 23 Evacuations

A wind-fed wildfire destroyed a house and a garage, threatened 23 other homes and forced scores of families to flee the northern Colorado foothills.
The 3,500-acre fire defied expectations by crowning -- jumping from treetop to treetop -- in the predawn darkness, and firefighters feared it would do the same early today.
“Usually at night, fires lay down, the winds calm down, but that really hasn’t happened on this fire,” information officer Cristie Lee said.
