Police Link Arrest to Detentions in Britain
Canadian police said the arrest of an Ottawa man on terrorism charges is connected to the arrests of eight men in Britain.
Mohammed Momin Khawaja, a Canadian citizen, is accused of being involved in terrorist-related activity in Ottawa and “at or near the city of London,” police said in a website statement.
In the British arrests Tuesday, police seized half a ton of ammonium nitrate, a substance used in the Bali nightclub and Oklahoma City bombings.
Khawaja’s attorney, Steven Greenberg, said he had seen nothing in the evidence to support the charges.
