Researcher Sentenced to 15 Years for Spying

A Moscow court sentenced a Russian arms control researcher to 15 years in prison for spying. Igor V. Sutyagin was jailed in October 1999 on charges that he sold data on nuclear subs and missile warning systems to a British firm that Russian investigators claimed was a CIA cover.
Sutyagin has said that his analyses were based on public sources and that he had no reason to believe the firm was a front.
