Rich Fields has been named as the announcer for “The Price Is Right,” succeeding Rod Roddy, who died in October, CBS announced.

The first episode with Fields as the announcer will air April 23.

Fields has been the weatherman for KPSP, the CBS affiliate in Palm Springs, since 2002 and spent 10 years as a disc jockey with Los Angeles’ KCBS-FM (93.1).

Fields is the show’s third announcer since it premiered on CBS in 1972. Johnny Olson was the announcer from 1972 until his death in 1987, when he was succeeded by Roddy.
