Enraged Convict Is Shot in Court
A man sentenced to prison went berserk in court Tuesday, overturning a table and chasing the judge toward his chambers until a sheriff’s deputy shot the defendant in the back, authorities said.
Shawn Frazier, 24, became agitated in the Philadelphia courtroom after receiving a sentence of two to four years in prison for violating probation stemming from a 1999 weapons conviction, a court official said.
Judge Gary Glazer retreated to his chamber, but when Frazier followed, the deputy fired one shot, hitting Frazier in the back. No one else was injured in the incident.
Frazier was in critical condition at a local hospital.
