Mother Nature Picks 6 in Icy Guessing Game
From Times Wire Reports
Mother Nature picked the winning numbers for the 88th Nenana Ice Classic, melting the ice on the Tanana River enough to move it downstream.
The popular yearly game of chance had six correct guesses of 2:16 p.m. Saturday. The winners will split a $301,000 jackpot.
A tripod erected on the ice is connected by wire to a clock on shore to detect the ice movement in Nenana, about 55 miles south of Fairbanks.
The earliest the ice has gone is April 20; the latest May 20.
