Those Hiring Are Real Cause of Overpaid CEOs

Share

“Evading Blame Via a Twist of Grammar” (Golden State, Aug. 2) begins to pinpoint one of the central issues of overpaid CEOs when Michael Hiltzik states that they “pry 10-figure pay packages from their corporate boards by insisting that they’re the only individuals who command flawless understanding of how the entire company operates.”

However, the real problem actually starts before they are even handed the job and use this technique in securing a golden parachute during the interview, hiring and negotiation process.

Until the people making the final decision realize that there may be another person just as qualified who doesn’t make exorbitant, self-serving demands, the cycle of greed and blame will only continue.
