From Times Wire Reports

A Japanese utility said it would temporarily shut down all 11 of its nuclear power facilities to conduct safety checks because of this week’s deadly accident at one of the plants.

Kansai Electric Power Co., Japan’s second-largest utility, made its decision a day after the government’s Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency ordered the company to review pipe inspection records to check for signs of erosion.

Kansai Electric officials are still hashing out details of the plan, including when the inspections will begin, company spokesman Hiroshi Kinami said.
