Poisoning Animals

In addition to the various causes being protested in Greece (“Activists Seize Spotlight Trained on the Games,” Aug 11) is the underreported deliberate poisoning of thousands of abandoned dogs and cats in an effort to “clean up” the streets of Athens for the Olympic Games. The positive image that the government of Greece hopes to convey is forever tarnished by its barbaric acts. Killing animals is not an Olympic sport.
