U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said Saturday that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s plan to allow a giant casino in the Bay Area was “unacceptable.”

In a statement, Feinstein urged the Legislature to reject the deal allowing the 259-member Lytton Band of Pomo Indians to build the nation’s largest urban casino.

“To compromise a community so the state can get 25% of the casino’s revenue is unconscionable,” she said.

The proposal would allow a casino with 5,000 slot machines in San Pablo near Interstate 80.
