Brain Scans Pinpoint Joys of Getting Even

Revenge is sweet, and Swiss researchers reported in the journal Science that they had the brain scans to prove it.

In a study investigators said might help explain how social norms arose and how they regulate behavior, brain centers linked to enjoyment and satisfaction lit up in brain scans of young men who punished others for cheating them by taking away points or money. The scans showed a clear pattern of activity in the dorsal striatum, involved in experiencing satisfaction.
