USC sophomore guard Lodrick Stewart, who threatened to quit the team after Tuesday night’s 71-62 loss at La Salle, has had a change of heart and does not plan on joining his twin brother Rodrick by transferring, the twins’ father said.

“Lodrick is still at USC ... regardless of the turmoil inside the program,” Bull Stewart said Wednesday night. “He wanted to leave because he was frustrated, but he’s got to suck it up because he decided to stay. He made a commitment when Rodrick decided to leave.

“I hope the situation gets better. He’s too good a basketball player to endure this. College should be fun.”

Coach Henry Bibby said he expected Lodrick Stewart to be at practice today when the Trojans resume workouts.

And while sources at USC said that Gonzaga called the office Wednesday inquiring about Rodrick Stewart, Bull Stewart said Rodrick would visit the Spokane campus soon but was leaning toward Kansas.

“Kansas would love to have him with a passion,” Bull Stewart said.

Jeff McMillan’s broken left (non-shooting) hand was not as severe as expected, X-rays showed Wednesday, and the senior forward hopes to be back within three weeks, Bibby said.
