Toyota to Combine North American Units

Toyota Motor Corp. will combine its North American unit that develops cars and trucks with its manufacturing operations to improve quality and get vehicles from design to production faster. The Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America unit will start in 2006’s first half, have about 27,000 workers and be based in Erlanger, Ky., Toyota said.
