The Defense Department last week also identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan and Iraq:

Stephen C. Benish, 20, of Clark, N.J.; private first class, Army. Benish was killed Nov. 28 in enemy action while on patrol in Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Howze, Korea.

Adam R. Brooks, 20, of Manchester, N.H.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Brooks was killed Nov. 28 in enemy action in Iraq’s Babil province. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Pablo A. Calderon, 26, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; sergeant, Army. Calderon was one of two soldiers killed Tuesday when an improvised explosive device detonated near their military vehicle in Fallouja, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Jeremy E. Christensen, 27, of Albuquerque; specialist, Army. Christensen was killed Nov. 27 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his patrol vehicle in Ad Duilayah, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 4th Armored Cavalry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Daryl A. Davis, 20, of Orlando, Fla.; specialist, Army National Guard. Davis was killed Monday when the Humvee in which he was riding crashed while traveling from Camp Taji to a logistical support area in Adder, Iraq. He was assigned to the 144th Transportation Company, Army National Guard in Marianna, Fla.

Isaac E. Diaz, 26, of Rio Hondo, Texas; specialist, Army. Diaz was killed Wednesday when his military vehicle rolled over in Sharona, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light) at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Christian P. Engeldrum, 39, of Bronx, N.Y.; sergeant, Army National Guard. Engeldrum was one of two soldiers killed Monday when their military vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, Army National Guard in New York.

Bradley M. Faircloth, 20, of Mobile, Ala.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Faircloth was killed Nov. 26 in enemy action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

David M. Fisher, 21, of Green Island, N.Y.; specialist, Army National Guard. Fisher was killed Wednesday when the Humvee in which he was riding rolled over in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 101st Cavalry Regiment, Army National Guard in Newburgh, N.Y.

Brian K. Grant, 31, of Dallas; private, Army. Grant was killed Nov. 26 when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team at Camp Howze, Korea.

Travis W. Grogan, 31, of Virginia Beach, Va.; chief warrant officer, Army. Grogan was among three soldiers killed Nov. 27 when their contract aircraft crashed in Bamian, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light) at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Jose Guereca Jr., 24, of Missouri City, Texas; sergeant, Army. Guereca was one of two soldiers killed Tuesday when an improvised explosive device detonated near their military vehicle in Fallouja, Iraq.

He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Charles A. Hanson Jr., 22, of Panacea, Fla.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Hanson was killed Nov. 28 in enemy action in Iraq’s Babil province. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Erik W. Hayes, 24, of Cascade, Md.; specialist, Army. Hayes died Monday when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle in Miqdadiya, Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division in Vilseck, Germany.

Jeffery S. Holmes, 20, of White River Junction, Vt.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Holmes died Nov. 25 in enemy action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

David B. Houck, 25, of Winston Salem, N.C.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Houck was killed Nov. 26 in enemy action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Zachary A. Kolda, 23, of Corpus Christi, Texas; corporal, Marine Corps Reserve. Kolda died Wednesday in enemy action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps Reserve in Houston.

Carl W. Lee, 23, of Oklahoma City; sergeant, Army. Lee was one of two soldiers killed Nov. 28 when their patrol unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Howze, Korea.

Joshua E. Lucero, 19, of Tucson; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Lucero died Nov. 27 in enemy action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Blake A. Magaoay, 20, of Pearl City, Hawaii; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Magaoay died Monday in enemy action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Gentian Marku, 22, of Warren, Mich.; corporal, Marine Corps. Marku died Nov. 25 in enemy action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Trinidad R. Martinez-Luis, 22, of Los Angeles; sergeant, Army. Martinez-Luis was killed Nov. 28 when his five-ton vehicle rolled over and pinned him under water in Baqubah, Iraq. He was assigned to the 201st Forward Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division in Vilseck, Germany.

Michael J. McMahon, 41, of West Hartford, Conn.; lieutenant colonel, Army. McMahon was among three soldiers killed Nov. 27 when their contract aircraft crashed in Bamian, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light) at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Harrison J. Meyer, 20, of Worthington, Ohio; private first class, Army. Meyer died Nov. 26 when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team at Camp Howze, Korea.

Harley D.R. Miller, 21, of Spokane, Wash.; specialist, Army. Miller was among three soldiers killed Nov. 27 when their contract aircraft crashed in Bamian, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light) at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Nicholas S. Nolte, 25, of Falls City, Neb.; sergeant, Marine Corps. Nolte died Nov. 24 at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., of injuries suffered Nov. 9 in enemy action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Air Station in Cherry Point, N.C.

Javier Obleas-Prado Pena, 36, of Falls Church, Va.; gunnery sergeant, Marine Corps. Pena died Wednesday at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany of injuries suffered Nov. 25 in enemy action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, N.C.

Michael B. Shackelford, 25, of Grand Junction, Colo.; staff sergeant, Army. Shackelford was one of two soldiers killed Nov. 28 when their patrol unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Ramadi, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Camp Howze, Korea.

Michael A. Smith, 24, of Camden, Ark.; sergeant, Army National Guard. Smith died Nov. 26 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., of injuries suffered Nov. 7 when he was attacked with small-arms fire in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 153rd Infantry Regiment, Army National Guard in Texarkana, Ark.

Wilfredo F. Urbina, 29, of Baldwin, N.Y.; private first class, Army National Guard. Urbina was one of two soldiers killed Monday when their military vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, Army National Guard in New York.

Bryan S. Wilson, 22, of Otterbein, Ind.; corporal, Marine Corps. Wilson was killed Wednesday in a nonhostile vehicle accident in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Jordan D. Winkler, 19, of Tulsa, Okla.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Winkler was killed Nov. 26 in a noncombat-related incident at Camp Fallouja, Iraq. He was assigned to Combat Service Support Battalion 1, Combat Service Support Group 11, 1st Force Service Support Group, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.
